Bernie Sanders
Campaign Concept | Graphic Design
I created a spec print campaign for Bernie Sanders’ first presidential campaign in 2016. I based it on British artist Victor Burgin’s 1966 project where he posted 500 copies a print he titled “Possession” around Newcastle.
Burgin’s piece was designed to look like an advertisement and encourage viewers “to start thinking for themselves […] to stop being consumers and start being producers.” It featured a 1966 statistic on wealth inequality from The Economist.
I reimagined Burgin’s work as actual advertisements using existing imagery and fonts from Prada, Balmain, and Calvin Klein.
I replaced the original stat with one from 2016 that Sanders referenced frequently during his campaign. Unfortunately, it wasn’t much different than the one from ‘66 😢
